And I Would Be Lying If I Didn't Tell You The Truth

Thank you Counting Crows for Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings. It’s killer. It’s beautiful. It’s letting go. It’s believing. It’s poignant. It’s sin. It’s regret. And then you do it all over again… and again… and again.

I’m so obsessed (I’ve long admitted to my OCD kicking in when it comes to good music) with one song that I’ve devoted this blog to it and it alone (as opposed to the entire CD which was my original intent. It ROCKS, by the way!) So, here goes…

“People will leave you behind...and you find yourself waiting. Endlessly waiting.” Adam Duritz said this in 2006, while performing in Las Vegas at Red Rocks right before singing Angels of the Silences. And that particular string of words resonated with a lot of people, including me.

Now think about the fact that his girlfriend broke up with him, his grandmother passed away, and he lost a couple of great friends soon after that. Further remember that he turned us on to and is a big fan of Stew (aka TNP) and Stew’s song “Come Down Now.” (Stew’s lyrics: “Remove your bandage so I can see your damage.”) You SHOULD be familiar with this song.

Combine all these ingredients together and you will see how and why Le Ballet D’or was born. It’s beautiful.

Wasting time running scared
When all love needs is to be believed in…

So come now
Let’s go dance to the siren’s song
Come now
Leave your damage behind and gone…

And I would be lying if I didn't tell you the truth.
They will leave you, they will leave you behind.

The truth of the words tear into your flesh with Duritz’s voice sharp as a dagger. You can feel his pain and it will stir up any of your own that you thought you’ve long since laid to rest.

Yet there is also a feeling of “cleansing” to it. I feel it but I just don’t have the words to describe it. So you need to listen to it and feel what you feel.

Counting Crows continue to amaze (well worth the 5 year wait).

And I would be lying if I didn’t tell you the truth:

I love this CD and think you will too.
